Terms of use.

By using this site, you accept the terms below. They are short, plain, and written for people who actually read documents like this.

1. Nature of the service

Wadden Current is an experimental, volunteer-run open data dashboard. It is provided "as is", on a best-efforts basis, with no warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uptime, accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of the information shown.

2. Not navigational, not safety-of-life

# critical: this dashboard is not a navigational aid, not a safety-of-life service, and not a substitute for the ferry operator's official communications. If you are planning travel, fishing, sailing, swimming, or anything else that depends on accurate marine conditions, always cross-check with primary sources (KNMI, Rijkswaterstaat, the ferry operator). We will gently refuse any liability for decisions made on the basis of our display.

3. Data licence

Upstream data is sourced from public feeds (KNMI, Rijkswaterstaat, ferry operator timetable, public AIS). Each upstream publisher retains its own rights. Our normalised, time-stamped representation of these feeds is released under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence — reuse it freely, including commercially, provided you credit "Wadden Current (teso.live)" as the source.

4. Site code

The HTML, CSS and JavaScript of this dashboard are released under the MIT licence. The Go backend ingestion service is private but may be open-sourced if there is demand.

5. Acceptable use

You may not:

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Dutch law, the Wadden Current Collective is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising out of your use of, or reliance on, this dashboard. The maximum aggregate liability for any claim is €0.00, because we charge nothing for this service.

7. Changes

If we change these terms, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by Dutch law. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by friendly email will be brought before the competent court of the District of North Holland (Rechtbank Noord-Holland).
